THE STORY, “Galahad’s Fool”
A year after his co-creator Lainie’s death, an acerbic veteran puppeteer struggles to build a solo show. But what Albert Fisher intends as a lightweight spoof turns sharply personal, and he births a raw myth of loss. His aging Galahad, bereft of youthful vision, launches a second mad quest for the Holy Grail. To follow, his wife secretly disguies herself as their frail, androgynous Fool. As the show evolves, Albert finds kinship with his grieving hero and risks new love.
THE AUTHORS, Conrad Bishop and Elizabeth Fuller
Leaving college teaching 47 years ago to go on the road with two kids bouncing in the back of a van, Bishop & Fuller know their grizzled puppeteer hero well. As playwright/actors since 1969, they have criss-crossed the USA-over 3,500 performances-and their plays have been produced Off-Broadway and with regional theatres, plus countless tours by their ensemble, The Independent Eye. Their books include a novel, a memoir, and two anthologies of their plays. In June’17, they completed a two-year national tour of their puppet/actor KING LEAR with a run at Main Stage West.
