The gloves are off and the pointy shoes are on for this story the NY Times called a “merrily subversive tale.” David Yen brings his hit comedy to Main Stage West for just eight performances to liven up your holidays with this wry, dry and hilarious tale of holly-jolly Christmas humiliation.

The Santaland Diaries chronicles one man’s journey to New York City to become the Next Great Soap Opera star. Instead of instant fame, however, the only paying job he can find is work as an elf in Macy’s Santaland during the holiday rush. It is an irreverent, “sweet-and-sour sugarplum of a tale!”  David Sedaris’ semi-autobiographical account “Santaland Diaries” first aired in 1992 on National Public Radio, and was later adapted as a solo play by Joe Mantello. Directed by Argo Thompson and starring David Yen, this one-man tour-de-force has played to sold-out houses in Marin and Sonoma Counties since 2005.
